CDA Joins the Celebration of 2024 Global Money Week

In support of the 2024 Global Money Week (GMW), the Credit Surety Fund Service and the Office of Assistant Secretary Luz H. Yringco, Head, Credit & Financial Services, Banking, Insurance & Credit Surety Fund (CSF) Cooperatives Cluster, in coordination with CDA Region III Extension Office conducted the Kick Off celebration held at CDA Head Office, Cubao, Quezon City on May 18, 2024. With this year’s theme, “Protect Your Money, Secure Your Future”, the half-day blended activity was attended by two hundred thirteen (213) registered laboratory cooperatives assisted by their respective guardian cooperatives and CDA personnel from the Head Office & sixteen (16) Regional Extension Offices.  The activity was likewise shown through live streaming via CDA Philippines Facebook page.


Asec. Luz H. Yringco, in her opening message said that one way to save money is by giving up on vices which cost a lot. She likewise announced that as a show of support to the advocacy of GMW, CDA will be institutionalizing the program starting 2024. Messages of support were also rendered by Asec. Vergel Hilario & Virgilio Lazaga.


Invited youth speaker and achiever Mr. Emmanuel Anthony B. Rosana, Board Director, Parish of St. Francis of Assisi Meycauayan Credit & Development Cooperative shared an inspiring story on his beginnings as a Bulilit Saver at an early age of 8 years old as a member of a laboratory cooperative in his hometown. He said the discipline and values of saving inculcated in him by his cooperative enabled him to manage his finances well to be financially stable. His story is likewise a testament of how being a member of a laboratory cooperative serves as a training ground for future cooperative leaders.


Another highlight of the activity was the awarding of laboratory cooperatives with the highest number of generated savings by youth members which each received a plaque of recognition, and a cash price to the top 1 winner, namely:

In his inspirational message, CDA Chairman Joseph B. Encabo, congratulated the awardees and expressed gratitude to youth speaker Mr. Rosana as well as the participants who made the event successful and meaningful. He likewise shared his personal experience and early struggles on his finances as an adult. However, the guidance of his grandmother made him rethink and plan for his future by means of saving prudently.


Finally, as a challenge, Asec. Luz Yringco distributed coin cans to the attendees at the head office and enjoined their participation to a contest wherein the employee having the biggest amount of savings will be awarded a prize in the 2025 Global Money Week.
